FALLEN TREE ART STUDIO is not a formal gallery space. It is a working studio, allowing visitors access to the artist and to the raw images before matting and framing come into play. The studio’s approach is simple and straightforward, with a clear focus on exploring the process of making images and it is my wish to share this process with others. Just like the process of making an image, FALLEN TREE ART STUDIO is an exploration of different mediums, approaches and their many possible outcomes.

The studio is located at Russell Nursery and entered by following any of the paths through the display gardens.

What you can expect:
  • A working studio with an artist on site.
  • Smaller works of art, mainly on paper, but I will be experimenting with various materials. The main focus of my work is abstract drawings.
  • Some works will be matted and framed to give a sense of what the finished work will look like in your home.
  • Guest artists will be invited as the studio gains momentum.
  • Art classes, lectures and small exhibitions are also planned.

Where the name of the studio comes from:

The name comes from an enormous Douglas Fir tree that came down on the property during a storm in December 2009. It was milled in January 2010 and this stately tree lives on, having provided most of the structural wood for the building as well as all the siding, flooring and trim. It provided the impetus to build this wonderful small studio space at the nursery.
